Minister of Petroleum Praises MIDTAP's Performance and Emphasizes its Vital Role in the Egyptian Energy Sector

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawi, attended the General Assembly of the Middle East Oil Tankage & Pipelines (MIDTAP) company, where the company's 2024 performance results were reviewed and approved.

MIDTAP achieved remarkable accomplishments in 2024, emphasizing its vital role in the Egyptian energy sector and its commitment to safety and social responsibility standards.

Key points discussed during the meeting:

 Significant Performance Leap:

      • Engineer Hassanin Mohamed, Chairman of MIDTAP, confirmed an unprecedented leap in ship reception and petroleum product handling at MIDTAP's marine terminal during 2024.
      • The marine terminal received 153 tankers, compared to 63 tankers in 2023.
      • Total petroleum product handling reached 4.7 million tons, compared to 1.6 million tons in 2023.
      • The night navigation system for the company's marine terminal in Dekheila Port was activated, contributing to increased work efficiency and 24-hour ship berthing management.

 

    • Occupational Safety and Health:
      • 5.7 million safe working hours have been achieved since 2012, reflecting the company's commitment to the highest safety standards.

 

    • Social Responsibility:
      • The company implemented social responsibility projects worth 30 million Egyptian pounds, including improving the quality of life in several areas and developing health and educational services.

      • The connection of all company departments to the ERP work procedure automation program was completed during the first quarter of this year.

 

  • Vital Role in the Energy Sector:
    • Minister Badawi praised the company's role in enhancing Egypt's position as a regional energy trading hub, and emphasized the importance of continuing to adhere to occupational safety and health regulations.
    • Engineer Hassanin Mohamed also highlighted the company's important role in transporting crude oil from the SUMED reception system in Sidi Kerir to the MIDOR refinery in Alexandria for refining and conversion into high-value petroleum products.
